Rome City Breaks
Rome is a fantastic city for a weekend break and combines culture and history with a cosmopolitan romantic atmosphere.
A visit the Collessium and the Vatican is a must and when you tire of the site seeing you can enjoy a relaxing meal out in one of Rome's fabulous restaurants and relax and enjoy Rome's laid back nightlife.
There is simply too much to see and do in Rome in a weekend break and some visitors are overwhelmed by this and tend to rush from sight to sight trying to take it all in.
I would recommend a more laid back approach maybe visiting two or three historic sites and returning to Rome to see the rest at a later date. That way you will have more time to appreciate and enjoy the sites you do see.
In between sight seeing don't forget to stop for regular ice creams, a speciality in Rome.
For most holy sites clothing that covers up midriffs, shoulders and legs is recomended particularly for the Vatican. We highly recommend visitng both the Colessium and the Vatican on your first visit to Rome.
Romans like taking it easy and Rome's nightlife might seem much more laid back compared with other European cities. A typical night out in Rome might include a long dinner with friends starting after 9pm and continuing until after midnight.
The bars in the center of town are a good place to start where you can sit around and watch the world go by. The Piazza Navona area and the Trastevere are some of the most popular places for evenings out. If you are after a nightclub to party until the early hours, Testaccio is the best area to go.
The climate in Rome is generally pleasant being warm and sunny in Spring, Summer and Autumn. Winters are generally mild although cold spells can occur. The best times to visit Rome are Spring and Autumn when the city is not so crowded. Rome can get unbearably hot during August.
